The Light Armoured Multipurpose Vehicle is an attack vehicle designed for 
ЁЯТРpatrol, 
ЁЯТРconvoy /group of ships protection and 
ЁЯТРlight strike missions.


The LAMV (Light Armoured Multipurpose Vehicle) is a new 4x4 light patrol vehicle developed by India-based TATA Motors Defence Solutions in collaboration with Supacat of the UK.

Light Armoured Multipurpose Vehicles will help to carry out silent recce and continuous surveillance.

The vehicles to be used for reconnaissance and surveillance tasks has to be carried out by mechanised infantry and armoured corps

ЁЯТРThe vehicles' shelf life should not be less than 10 years or could do 1,00,000 km, have seating capacity for not less than four, including the driver, the RFI demands.

ЁЯТР It should be able to carry payload of not less than 1.25 tons, and have cruising range of minimum 400 km on road and 200 km in cross country. 

ЁЯТРSimilarly, LAMV should be able to move on road at 80 kmph to 100 kmph and 35 kmph to 45 kmph for off roading.

The LAMVs will be employed for on road and off road movement in plain and desert terrains along western borders with Pakistan which is spread over Punjab, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir and Gujarat. 

Besides that, the armoured vehicles will also be deployed at high altitude 
ЁЯТР(up to 5,000 meters), 
ЁЯТРmountainous terrain including 
ЁЯТРsnow bound areas along northern borders in Eastern Ladakh 
ЁЯТРand North Sikkim

The Army is planning to procure atleast 800 Light Armoured Multipurpose Vehicle (LAMV).

 for reconnaissance and surveillance tasks carried out by mechanised infantry and armoured corps

 borders with Pakistan and China.
