Why  called great slave lake ?

The lake is named for the Slavery people, a First Nations indigenous tribe, who originally lived the lake around Great Slave Lake.

The Europeans first explored the area in the 18th century, when Samuel Hearne visited the lake in 1771.

several other names, including Tu Nedhé (Chipewyan language), Tucho (Dehcho Dene language), or Tinde’e (Yellowknife language).

• second largest lake in the Northwest Territories of Canada after Great Bear Lake, 
• deepest lake in North America.
  
• Length and width -  480 kilometers (300 miles) long, and ranges from 19 to 109 kilometers (12 to 68 miles) wide, with an area of 27,200 square kilometers (10,502 square miles).
• The volume आयतन कितना है ranges from 1,070 cubic kilometers (260 cubic miles) to 2,088 cubic kilometers (501 cubic miles).
• The Deh Cho Bridge is the longest jointless bridge on the continent.

Yellowknife city fact  - became the capital of the Northwest Territories after the gold discovery in the 1930s, and later became the country’s diamond capital.
