Rental housing scheme announced for working class




The scheme will feature dormitory-style accommodations developed through a Public-Private Partnership model. 


In a move to address the housing needs of industrial workers, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharamanannounced a rental housing initiative in Budget 2024.


Finance Minister underscored the government's recognition of the significance of homeownership. In a notable announcement, the FM stated a housing scheme would announce soon targeting the middle class, extending to those residing in rented houses with the aim of facilitating the construction or purchase of their own homes. This initiative is expected to revitalize the Mid housing & Affordable housing sector."


Our government will launch a scheme to help deserving sections of the middle class ‘living in rented houses, or slums, or chawls and unauthorised colonies’ to buy or build their own houses,” she said in the interim budget speech on Thursday
