AK-203 assault rifles
AK-203 राइफल की कुछ विशेषताएं:
1. 7.62 X 39mm कैलिबर की एके-203 राइफलें , INSAS राइफल की जगह लेंगी।
2. रूसी मूल की इस राइफल के मॉडर्न वर्जन से 300 मीटर की रेंज तय की जा सकती है या फिर तीन फुटबॉल के मैदानों जितनी। इतना ही नहीं, इन राइफल्स का वजन कम है और ये मजबूत भी हैं।
3. यह असॉल्ट राइफल 7.62 एमएम के बड़े राउंड फायर करती है, जबकि कम शक्ति वाली समान राइफलें छोटे 5.56 एमएम राउंड फायर करती हैं।
4. नई राइफलों में मौजूद आधुनिक तकनीक से ये स्पेशल साइट और ग्रिप्स जैसे हाई-टेक ऐड ऑन भी इस्तेमाल करने में सक्षम हैं। ये ऐड-ऑन विशेष बलों के मिशनों में काम आते हैं।
5. AK-203 राइफल्स का निर्माण भारत-रूसी राइफल्स प्राइवेट लिमिटेड नामक एक जॉइंट वेंचर के तहत किया जाएगा।

इसमें एडवांस्ड वेपन्स एंड इक्विपमेंट इंडिया लिमिटेड और म्यूनिशंस इंडिया लिमिडटेड और रूस की रोसोबोरॉनएक्सपोर्ट और कलाशनिकोव शामिल हैं।

Due to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, implementation of the deal for 6.1 lakh AK-203 assault rifles signed with Russia last July has been delayed by at least a few months, according to defence sources.
As part of pre-production activities, retrials
were scheduled to be done with ammunition from the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) in Russia in the first half of February, two defence sources independently said.

India signed a deal last August for 70,000 AK-103 assault

In another small arms deal, the repeat order for 72,400 SIG-716 assault rifles
from Sig Sauer is delayed, and more than two officials, on condition of anonymity, said it is likely to be dropped.

Alexander Mikheev, Director-General of Rosoboronexport, said manufacturing of the AK-203 rifles at the plant in Uttar Pradesh was likely to begin within a few months.

कौन कौन बनायेगा
ver 6.1 lakh AK-203 assault rifles that cost over ₹5,000 crore will be manufactured by a joint venture, Indo-Russian Rifles Private Ltd. (IRRPL), at Korwa, Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.
The IRRPL ?
was set up jointly with the erstwhile OFB [now Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Ltd. (AWEIL) and Munitions India Ltd. (MIL)] of India and Rosoboronexport and Kalashnikov of Russia.
Increase in localisation घर में ही बनाना
पहली बार में
As part of this, the first 70,000 AK-203 rifles will be produced in India with a phased increase in the extent of localisation from 5% to 70%.
The rest of the rifles will be produced with 100% localisation.
क्या क्या हुआ है अभी तक
A modern production line has been established and a small arms range set up where both factory and acceptance tests of assault rifles will be carried out.
SIG-716 assault rifles
About
American rifle has a higher recoil. The SiG 716 has a higher calibre and is meant to shoot-to-kill at a distance of 600 metres, unlike the INSAS/ indian which has a lower range and is not designed to kill at longer distances. The AK-47 also fires a smaller round.
SiG 716, the rifle did not come with any additional equipment than the standard issue.

Under a ₹700-crore deal in February 2019 with Sig Sauer of the U.S., the Defence Ministry procured 72,400 SIG-716 assault rifles through fast-track procurement
most of which were for the Army and have been provided to frontline troops involved in counter-insurgency operations.
